Electrostatic spraying is based on electrostatic charge, which has the effect of creating a sort of charge vacuum that binds particles and liquids together. This leads to an increase in the rate at which charges move through a material. With a better transfer efficiency, the finished product is more resilient to abrasion, erosion, damage and corrosion. There are two main types of electrostatic spray equipment – wet and dry. In addition to having vastly different application methods, they also have different pump designs.
A wet electrostatic spray equipment operates with the help of a tachometer to monitor the particles. Once the transfer process is over, the tachometer records the results and transmits them to the control panel of the machine. The dry type operates by passing air over the particles and thus creating a charging current that is used for the transfer process.
As electrostatic spray equipment is being used today, there are several developments in its design and application. Among these is electrostatic anti graffiti coating that helps to protect steel and concrete surfaces from electrostatic spray exposure. This corrosion resistant coating comes in different thicknesses, which can be adjusted according to the changing market conditions. The main advantage of using this type of electrostatic painting equipment is that the operator need not touch the painting surface directly. An electrostatic painting gun allows for very little movement of the painting material, so the possibility of human error is eliminated. There are two types of electrostatic e-spray disinfection systems – electrostatic and contact time. Contact time system sprays the materials at a slightly faster rate (typically puffs), which creates a more even coating over the material being sprayed. In electrostatic system, the material is charged and when the charge is released, it sends out a static charge that sticks to the surface being sprayed. The contact time is measured in milliseconds and it is the measurement used in choosing the right coating thickness. Usually, the contact time is adequate for standard paints but it may not be enough for special paints.
There are several advantages to using electrostatic e-spray disinfectants on a wide range of surfaces including metal and fiberglass surfaces. It has many advantages. It can prevent corrosion and tarnishing of stainless steel, copper, aluminum, ceramic, wood and fiberglass surfaces; it prevents oxidation reactions on metals; it controls dust and fumes emitted during operation; it maintains surfaces’ surface quality; it enhances the aesthetic appearance of products manufactured from the same material.
